Salary: $40,000-$45,000 annually

United Against Poverty is an innovative non-profit organization with a unique approach to breaking the cycle of poverty through programs that inspire and empower individuals to lift themselves to economic self-sufficiency. More than 400 individuals are served daily in our St Lucie campus, where assistance is provided in the areas of crisis care, case management, transformative education, food and household subsidy, employment training and active referrals to partnering social service providers.

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION

As an integral member of the Development team, the Development Manager will help cultivate, steward, and expand the relationships between the organization and its donors by providing extraordinary service and appropriately maintaining and managing donor information. The Development Manager will spearhead development outreach efforts in St Lucie County by managing and execute engaging events, meetings and special communications to grow the current donor and volunteer base. The Development Manager will work closely with all members of the Development Team and reports to the Executive Director and main priority is generating revenue to meet and exceed annual fund goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage and solicit corporate sponsorships from businesses
  • Create partnerships with faith-based organizations
  • Following the moves management system, strategize and record all contacts to ensure positive and purposeful donor relations efforts
  • Manage and build relationships with donors
  • Collaborate with the Executive Directors and Development Staff on additional activities including promotional campaigns, special events and direct mail
  • Make regular speaking engagements to build awareness about the mission of United Against Poverty with civic clubs and community groups
  • Maintain accountability standards to donors and ensure compliance with the code of ethics, principles and standards of professional conduct
  • Creates acknowledgments and receipts for donors on a timely basis
  • Responds to donor inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Maintains donor confidentiality and ensures compliance with related policies
  • Provides support for UP events including promotion, registration and logistics
  • Assists with the creation and distribution of electronic and print communications and appeals

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build external relationships
  • Knowledge of the Treasure Coast community strongly desired
  • Prior experience in the nonprofit field and fundraising experience preferred
  • Proficient in or ability to learn and use donor and event management software (including DonorPro, EventBrite and FirstGiving)
  • Prior grant writing experience preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and values of United Against Poverty
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary to attend meetings, fundraising or programmatic events

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Business or related field preferred
