United Against Poverty Radiothon

Seeking Sponsors for 2017 Hunger Free Radiothon

The 9th Annual Hunger-Free Radiothon to benefit United Against Poverty is nearly here! On Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6am to 6pm, 93.7GYL, 97.1 Ocean, B94.7 Fresh Country will give back to the community by highlighting the challenges faced during the holidays for those who struggle to make ends meet every month. The Radiothon is a fun way to bring together the community to make a big difference for families in need during the holiday season. Please tune in! For most of us, the holidays are a time of joy and celebration. However, for 72,000 families on the Treasure Coast this time of year is a source of stress and uncertainty. It is our hope that no family will have to suffer during this holiday season or for holidays to come. Community Challenge Pledges are sought to support the event and multiply the impact of contributions. Advance donations of $250 or more committed prior to the Radiothon, are posted on Facebook and announced on air to challenge and inspire  friends, family and colleagues to match a donation. Some businesses even challenge their competition to see who can bring in the most to help struggling families! Please considers supporting this drive by accepting the Golden Microphone, Silver Broadcaster, or Bronze Broadcaster Challenge! Donations can be made during the Radiothon by calling 855-YES-FOOD toll-free. Every dollar makes a difference!
  • $25 donation will provide a Thanksgiving or holiday meal complete with all the fixings for a family
  • $125 will provide one week of employment training for one adult in the employment training program
  • $10 provides 30 meals.
Through sustainable programs supported by these contributions, the UP Centers can continue to provide families with permanent solutions to issues related to poverty, such as hunger and homelessness.  All contributions will support valuable crisis stabilization services, life skills workshops and workforce development opportunities designed to break the cycle of poverty by offering a hand UP, rather than a handout.
